Capture Your WVU Nursing Journey with Stunning Grad Photos

Graduates

Nursing students work hard for their cap and gown. With exams, clinicals, long shifts, and early mornings, nursing school is demanding. When you finally graduate, your photos should celebrate both your achievement and your devotion. Whether you’re earning your BSN or becoming a nurse practitioner, these ideas work for everyone. Here are some real WVU nursing graduation sessions from this year.

Why WVU Nursing Graduation Pictures Are So Special

Nursing graduation photos are about more than just the diploma. They show the moment you become a medical professional. The best photos mix the classic cap and gown with personal touches like your stethoscope, scrubs, or badge. These are the photos you’ll treasure for years to come.

WVU Nursing Graduation Picture Ideas and Props

Props can help tell your story. Here are some of my favorite ideas for nursing graduation pictures.

A stethoscope is a classic nursing prop. You can wear it around your neck, hold it for a close-up, or shape it into a heart on the grass for a creative shot. Scrubs are also popular. Many grads like to wear the scrubs they used during clinicals, especially with their cap for a fun before-and-after photo. If you want to change your look quickly, just add your scrub top or white coat over your outfit during the session.

Small details also make great close-up photos. Your badge reel, penlight, nursing pin, or even your favorite clinical shoes can add meaning to your pictures. For a fun celebration, try balloon letters like “RN” or “BSN,” toss some confetti, or pop a bottle of champagne. For more ideas, see my guide to the best props for college graduation photos.

WVU Nursing Graduation Poses to Try

Many nursing grads like to have both professional portraits and fun celebration photos. A standing pose with your stethoscope makes a great headshot for LinkedIn or job applications. For something playful, toss your cap, pop some champagne, or walk across campus with your friends. A classic diploma pose shows your pride. If you’re graduating with friends, take a group photo in matching scrubs to highlight your teamwork and pride.

Photo Ideas for Nurse Practitioner Grads

Nurse practitioner grads have an extra detail to highlight: the academic hood. Since you carry your hood into the ceremony instead of wearing it, your photo session is a great time to show it draped over your shoulders. A white coat is also a nice touch for NP grads, showing the next step in your career. For more about hoods, tassel colors, and regalia, see my WVU cap-and-gown guide.

Where to Take WVU Nursing Graduation Pictures

Most of my graduation sessions take place at Woodburn Circle, a well-known spot at WVU. It’s a beautiful backdrop for nursing graduation photos, especially if you bring your stethoscope or scrubs. Many grads also like to celebrate at the Health Sciences campus. You can visit up to three campuses in one session. My Graduate 4.0 package gives you a full evening for photos. With Morgantown’s busy traffic and parking, especially around 5 p.m., having dedicated time really helps.

What to Wear for Nursing Graduation Pictures

For your nursing graduation photos, wear a simple, solid-colored outfit under your gown so your props stand out. Since sessions go by fast, it’s easier to bring a quick layer like your scrub top or white coat instead of changing outfits. Steam your gown before your session, and have your stethoscope, pins, or cords ready. For more tips, see my guide on what to wear for WVU graduation pictures.
