Anytime I receive an opportunity for cap and gown portraits with a group of best friends, I’m ready to start planning details immediately! This Morgantown High School graduation session in Morgantown, WV was my first one like this and I love how these images turned out! There’s no better way to celebrate this special time than with a best friend cap and gown photoshoot.
This graduation session included Jackie, Paige, Sophia, and Toni, all best friends. The entire photoshoot took place around the outside campus of MHS. It was actually supposed to rain that day, and we almost canceled. However, the weather made a turn for the better and we had gorgeous light at sunset. All of the girls chose several outfits for the session, including a white dress along with their red cap and gown. Each girl had their own mini-individual session along with the group photos.
High School and College School Spirit
I wanted to incorporate their choice of college/university, so they wore a shirt of their choosing along with a pair of jeans. Each girl brought their own personality to the session, so no image of each girl was the same. In addition to shooting in front of buildings outside, we gained access to the football field. The field was decorated with the school’s colors and logo which made it a special place on campus for photos. This is where the girls showed off their school spirit by wearing a school shirt with jeans. We were able to use some giant light-up letters that spelled out MHS and all the girls did some cute poses.
Celebrate with Confetti
Towards the end of the session, we made our way to the front of the school where the school name was visible on the outside of the building. Jackie, Paige, Sophia, and Toni all wore their white dresses and had a fun confetti pop! I love using confetti during a photoshoot to commemorate a senior’s time in high school. I usually make this the last shot of the session because you truly get genuine excitement from the anticipation of popping a confetti cannon!
Jackie and Toni will be attending West Virginia University to study nursing and dance, respectively. Sophia’s plans include attending Fairmont State to study nursing while Paige is going to study dentistry at Auburn. This Morgantown High School graduation session was my first like this and it was so much fun. I can’t wait to do more of these!
