You’ll never find a more fragrant and scenic setting to say your vows than with a ceremony and reception surrounded by lavender. Taylor and Dalton planned the most classic celebration of love with their fall wedding at Stone House Lavender Farm and Barn in Fairmont, West Virginia! Not only was the weather PERFECT, but Taylor’s attention to detail and style made their wedding so beautiful!
Even though it seems like the lavender has always been a part of the farm, the property was originally used to raise cattle. The original house was built in 1850 before the Civil War and was made using hand-cut stone for the walls and handmade iron nails for the wood floors. Eight generations of the family have owned and lived on this property. Although the stone house still stands, it’s not in use anymore. The lavender business began in 2017 when the property owners decided to put a modern twist on the farm.
A Lavender-Filled Fall Wedding
Dalton and Taylor are high school sweethearts and they became engaged in 2021. Taylor found me on Facebook and I loved connecting with her and meeting her and Dalton’s families. They both love fishing and it’s a running joke among both families that Dalton loves it more than Taylor. She was going for a classic color palette, so Taylor only chose champagne as her wedding color and mixed in greenery for decorations. For their first dance, they incorporated Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song)” during their first dance which had all of their guests laughing.
Taylor’s brother-in-law Dean was their wedding planner and quite honestly, he was good at it! Taylor’s super cute twin niece and nephew were the ringbearer and flower girl and were escorted down the aisle in a wagon. I loved the charcuterie board that Dalton and Taylor had during the cocktail hour. Her friend, a full-time educator, created it for the wedding, and it was impressive!
Stone House Lavender Farm and Barn started as a U-pick lavender experience. They later created a storefront where they continue to sell “all things lavender” from lotion and soaps to sugar scrub and bug spray. This storefront was opened after renovating a spring house already on the property.
The farm eventually decided to enter into the wedding business by hosting events and ceremonies with a venue. Construction on the barn venue began in March 2020 and has become popular for weddings once the farmhouse officially opened. The venue comfortably holds around 150 guests. Brides can get ready on-site in their own space and the groomsmen have a “man cave” for them to hang out and get dressed beforehand. The best feature about this wedding venue is that it’s yours for the entire weekend once you book!
Thank you Taylor and Dalton for honoring me with your fall wedding at Stone House Lavender Barn and Farm! My 2025 wedding calendar is open, so send me an email so we can plan your spring wedding! I’m really excited to shoot another celebration here soon!
