No matter how long a couple has been together or if they have children from their previous relationships, it’s exciting when they officially tie the knot! Beverly and Keif’s Stonewall Resort wedding in Roanoke, WV was a beautiful celebration of love, with their families finally coming together as one!

West Virginia Resort Wedding

Choosing the Stonewall Resort as their wedding venue was especially important to Beverly. They have vacationed at this resort in the past, and Beverly loves the outdoors! They decided this location was perfect for their ceremony and a weekend getaway with their family and friends. This resort venue is spread across two thousand acres of land nestled in the West Virginia mountains, but very close to the main highway. Stonewall Resort has locations on the property for outdoor and indoor ceremonies, with their most popular spot overlooking the lake and mountains. There are plenty of options when it comes to staying on the property, from a room at the lodge to lakeside cottages for your bridal party and wedding guests.

Beverly and Keif booked me for their wedding through a Facebook post. They are both from Pittsburgh. Beverly’s daughter Brittany attended Bethany College, where she and I have some mutual friends. I attended West Liberty University which is just ten minutes down the road. Brittany was looking for a photographer for the wedding and someone tagged my business. Isn’t it crazy how life comes back around?

A Family Filled Celebration

The entire bridal party included all of Beverly and Keifโ€™s children and grandchildren. She is definitely a family-oriented person, so she was on cloud nine with their closest family and friends in attendance. Keif’s parents attended the ceremony and reception as well. Keif was actually hospitalized earlier that week for kidney stones, but he mustered up the pain so he could fulfill Beverly’s vision of getting married at the resort.

Brandon, Beverly’s son walked her down the aisle. Keif and Beverly had a sand ceremony during the wedding where both sides of their families filled one jar together, uniting them as one. During the reception, Beverly’s daughter Brittany delivered a heartfelt speech, crediting Keif as the father she never had. Everyone became very emotional, and it was one of the special moments of the entire day. Keif and his mother, Joyce shared a dance and Beverly had a dance with her son, Brandon.

The Cookie Table Tradition

I had a great time with their couples’ portraits, taken with the lake in the background at the Lightburns Restaurant on the property. One of the best-known Pittsburgh wedding traditions is the infamous “Cookie Table”. Friends and family of the couple make thousands of cookies for a wedding. Beverly and Keif included this well-known tradition during their reception.

The cookies will typically be frozen until the wedding. This fun tradition serves as a combination of wedding favors, with the couple asking guests to take home a treat after the reception. In addition to this tradition being popular in Pittsburgh, it is also popular in West Virginia.

I absolutely loved everything about Beverly and Keif’s Stonewall Resort wedding! From the hues of all the blues (including the groom’s shoes), the reception details, and the gorgeous weather, this wedding was so relaxed because of this lovely couple and their family. I can’t wait to shoot here again in the future! To book your wedding date on my calendar, send me an email!
